In the past, the construction of the dam was mainly for drinking water supply and irrigation of agricultural fields, but today it has been further developed due to the need for hydropower and other purposes. The estimated 20 billion cubic meters of freshwater abstraction in the world is one of the reasons for the importance of dam construction in today's world. Another important goal of dam construction is to improve and develop the irrigation and agriculture network of downstream lands. In countries such as Iran, where the temporal and spatial distribution of rainfall is inadequate and precipitation occurs in seasons that may require less water or most of the precipitation is concentrated in some areas. The only solution to this problem is to build reservoirs, and this is inevitable, especially in countries that rely on agriculture.
